The Jaguars raised eyebrows by selecting Cal punter Bryan Anger in the third round on Friday night. He's the highest punter drafted since 1995, when the Bears chose Todd Sauerbrun in the second round.

A number of teams are looking to trade up to the start of the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft so they can take North Alabama cornerback Janoris Jenkins, according to league executives.

Wanting to draft Morris Claiborne, the Cowboys traded up on Thursday night, grabbing the sixth pick from the Rams. St. Louis acquired the No. 14 and No. 45 overall picks from Dallas in the deal.

The Eagles traded up on Thursday night, acquiring the 12th overall pick from the Seahawks in order to select Mississippi State defensive tackle Fletcher Cox. Seattle received Philadelphia's No. 15 pick as well as their fourth- and sixth-round picks (Nos. 114 and 172 overall).

The Lions are looking for ways to trade up to a higher pick in Thursday night's NFL Draft. Detroit is believed to be targeting cornerback Stephon Gilmore.

The Browns are showing interest in Oklahoma State quarterback Brandon Weeden, according to numerous sources with knowledge of the situation. Cleveland has two picks in the first round -- No. 4 and No. 22 -- but sources say they would love to grab Weeden with the No. 37 pick.

The Vikings are leaning towards cornerback Marcus Claiborne with the third overall pick, according to sources. Minnesota reportedly likes the LSU product better than USC tackle Matt Kalil.

The Patriots have inquired with the Seahawks to see what it would take to acquire the twelfth overall pick, sources with direct knowledge of the situation said. New England owns the 27th and 31st picks in the first round.

With the 2012 NFL Draft just hours away, Alabama cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick is "dropping" on draft boards. "The truth is that he was already lower than the media believed," writes Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. "Which, as more information trickles out about the actual content of draft boards, creates the impression that the player is dropping."
